Moonlighting began trading in 1991 from a small office in Richmond, distributing luminaires in the Victorian project industry. In 2004 it was acquired by Gerard Corporation and subsequently became a member of the Gerard Lighting Group. Now in 2009 Moonlighting has established offices in four States and is represented throughout Australia, with its Head Office still located in Victoria and backed by a modern production facility in New South Wales.

Focussed primarily on project lighting within the commercial and industrial sectors of the building industry, Moonlighting has become highly specialised in servicing this demanding, fast-paced area of business. Integral to the business are various additional compartmentalised sections that specifically deal with corporate clients in an ongoing basis.

Moonlighting is a highly successful and motivated company, whose employees firmly believe their performance and product quality is at a global level, not merely local. This attitude, coupled with the successes and performance throughout their history has attracted new and significant interest from other highly respected international manufacturers. The result is that Moonlighting is now proudly distributing the Trilux, Holophane, Troll, Luxo, OptiLED, Light Tape, Luxit, Goccia and Atomis ranges in addition to their own brands such as Cellite, Regal Lighting, Aero, Sun Lighting, Control-Pro and Select Lighting.
